Martyr Deepak Singh’s wife passed the exam, now she will serve in the army
Deepak Singh, a member of the 16th Battalion, was a hero in the Bihar Regiment. During the expulsion of Chinese soldiers from the Galwan Valley, he achieved martyrdom. Ram Nath Kovind posthumously awarded him the Vir Chakra in November last year. His wife, Rekha Devi, had previously received the award.

The Services Selection Board (SSB) exam was cleared by Rekha Devi on Friday. An army officer said he was selected after a five-day interview in Allahabad. Pre-Service Training is now underway. Rekha Devi must pass the medical test before the Union Public Service Commission releases the list of selected candidates.
Martyrs’ wives are exempt from this tax
Married wives of martyred soldiers and officers are exempt from appearing in CDS, the Combined Defense Services Examination conducted by UPSC to join the Army. This is the only requirement for SSB interviews. Married spouses of martyrs receive an age exemption. OTA is open to individuals aged 19 to 25 years old.

Naik Deepak Singh served as a medical assistant in the military. He saved the lives of 30 Indian soldiers through timely treatment. The Galwan Valley conflict, which lasted for seven hours, resulted in 20 Indian soldiers being killed. Over 40 Chinese soldiers and officers were also killed at the same time. The head of Naik Deepak Singh was struck by a stone thrown by the Chinese soldiers during the struggle. Even after this, he continued to help many injured soldiers, although Deepak Singh died later during treatment.
