Olympic torch controversy:
The Government of India objects to China’s handing over of a torch to a soldier involved in the Galwan Valley conflict. The Indian ambassador to Beijing has been asked to keep his distance from the Olympic program as a protest. The United States has already announced a diplomatic boycott of the Olympics.
When it comes to China’s strained relations with many neighboring countries and its threats to them, America has affirmed that it always stands with its allies. It has always been America’s policy to favor direct dialogue and a peaceful resolution of the border dispute between India and China.
The US State Department’s Ned Price said this. At a regular press conference in Washington on Thursday, he was asked about China’s presentation of the Winter Olympics torch to Chinese regiment commander Faibao, who was injured in the Indo-China conflict in Galwan Valley.
Ned Price said that we have already expressed concerns about Beijing’s pattern of intimidating our neighbors. We stand with our allies and friends. We are committed to promoting our shared heritage, security, and values throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

China’s act is being considered as a conspiracy to defame India. Also in 2020, 20 Indian soldiers and officers were killed in the conflict in Galvan Valley of Eastern Ladakh, while the People’s Liberation Army of China suffered heavy casualties.
US senators have also expressed opposition to the passing of the torch to Regimental Commander Qi Fabao. Senator Marco Rubio said that China is once again trying to politicize the Beijing 2022 Games. China has presented a torch to a soldier involved in the 2020 India-China clash as a means of provocation. Similarly, Senator Jim Rishch of the powerful State Department committee tweeted that America will continue to support India’s sovereignty.
