Devotees of Shiva worship and fast according to the law of Bholenath on this day. Mahashivratri this year will be observed on Tuesday, March 1. It is believed that on this festival, a devotee of Shiva who remains absorbed in worshipping Shiva throughout the day while fasting will definitely fulfill his wishes.

Mahashivratri, which falls in the month of Falgun, has a special significance even though Shivratri is celebrated every month. Mahashivratri is also known as a celebration of nature. Shiva worship isn’t just worshipping any deity, it’s a natural law saying that everything in life has meaning and nothing is meaningless.

Each has its own meaning, according to the Dharma Puranas. All thMaha Se elements and plants in daily life that are discarded are very dear to Bole Baba. All those things are medicines that only Mahadev can wear.

In order to please Lord Shiva and fulfill his wishes, devotees of Bhole Baba offer milk, Bel leaves, cannabis, and Datura to Shiva. The rest of the gods are offered sweets, as you must have noticed. These natural things, however, are enough to please Shiva, the god of gods. You should worship Shivalinga with three things: milk, belpatra, cannabis, and datura. Mahakal is definitely offered Dhatura on the day of Shivratri. Do you know why? Here’s an explanation.

Shiva had gone unconscious

The gods and demons churned the ocean to get nectar, according to Shiva Mahapuran. Many things came out of this churning and were divided between the deities and asuras. During the churning of the ocean, Halahal, poison, emerged. To save the entire creation, Lord Shiva took it by the throat at the behest of the gods. The Puranas mention that it was only due to this that Bholenath’s throat turned blue. Shiva was then named Neelkanth. When the poison reached Lord Shiva’s brain, he became distraught and fell unconscious. The deities were left in a state of doubt because of Shiva’s condition.

Mother Adishakti told the way to cure Shiva

Mother Adishakti appeared at that time and told Abhishek how to treat himself with water and herbs to save Bholenath, according to the Puranas. At the behest of Mother Adi Shakti, Shiva’s distraction was removed by drugs like cannabis, datura, and bel. Bhang, datura, and bel leaves were placed on Shiva’s head and Jalabhishek was performed continuously. The temperature of Shiva’s brain gradually decreased. There is said to be a tradition of offering Bhang and Datura to Bhole Baba since that time.

Datura one benefits many

Ayurveda also uses cannabis and datura as medicines. By offering Dhatura to Lord Shiva, Rahu-related defects like Kaal Sarp and Pitru Dosh can be removed. The three leaves of Belpatra have been considered a symbol of Raja, Sattva, and Tamoguna in Indian scriptures. Datura is a poisonous and wild prickly fruit. There is also a saying that poison only bites poison. Its history is also linked to poisoning incidents. Dhatura has many nectar-like properties inside itself. In Ayurveda, it has been described as a factor to defeat the pain of chronic fever, joint pain, poison effect etc.
