Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), said in a lighter vein this week that Krishna shows up in his dreams every night to tell him he will form the government in Uttar Pradesh and establish the “Ram Rajya” in the state after the upcoming elections.
The former chief minister made the comment at an event aimed at inducting the BJP’s Nanpara MLA, Madhuri Verma, into the SP. Verma is a Kurmi and a second-time member of the Legislature. She also served on the Legislative Council between 2010 and 2012. Rakesh Pandey, a former member of parliament from Ambedkar Nagar, joined the SP with other BSP leaders.
Akhilesh said he dreams of Lord Krishna telling him that he will form the government, when asked about a report that a BJP leader wrote to JP Nadda about fielding Yogi Adityanath from Mathura. Ram Rajya can be reached by following Samajwad’s [socialist] path. Ram Rajya will be established in the state the day Samajwad is established.”
SP chief claimed the BJP was shocked when he promised that a government formed by his party would provide 300 units of free electricity to domestic consumers. Akhilesh said an SP government would complete various power projects to fulfill its promise.
