The Union Cabinet has approved an investment of Rs 1500 crore in the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA). In the cabinet meeting, it has been decided to extend the tenure of ‘National Commission for Safai Karamcharis’ for the next three years from April 1, 2022. Now its term will be till 31 March 2025.

IREDA plays a major role in the development of renewable energy. In view of this, the government has decided to strengthen it. IREDA played a big role in this. IREDA was formed to provide financial assistance to the renewable energy sector.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur also informed that the Union Cabinet has approved the scheme for payment of difference between compound interest and simple interest for six months to borrowers in loan accounts.
