DCW’s notice to SBI: Bank withdraws its guidelines, does not give the job to pregnant more than three months
Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal claims a bank cannot deny a woman a job on such a premise, so she has written a letter to the bank asking them to withdraw the guideline.
Delhi Commission for Women has issued a notice to the State Bank of India, asking them to withdraw a recruitment guideline. The commission calls the guideline discriminatory and illegal.
According to an SBI guideline regarding recruitment, the bank does not hire pregnant women who are more than three months pregnant. According to them, such women are not necessarily qualified for the job.
Delhi Commission for Women has described this guideline as both discriminatory and illegal. According to Maliwal, a bank cannot deny a woman a job based on such a principle, which is why she has sent a notice asking for it to be removed.
